What are batch production pre-orders with a minimum goal?
Batch production pre-orders with a minimum goal means that although we are taking
pre-orders, items will only be manufactured once the number of pre-orders reaches the minimum number of units in
one manufacturing batch.
If we don't reach the required number of units to make a batch, we can't manufacture the
item.
Why are you doing it this way?
The disposal of excess inventory is becoming a serious worldwide problem.
Manufacturing items in batches is an economically efficient method of production.
For example, a manufacturer may have a minimum batch requirement of 1000 units in order to start the production line. Even if we only receive 500 pre-orders, we would still have to manufacture all 1000 units in order to get the production line moving, resulting in 500 units of excess inventory that may end up as waste to be discarded.
In order to cut down on waste like this and improve economic efficiency, we’re trying out this all-or-nothing method of batch production pre-orders.
The progress bar
The progress bar reflects the current amount of pre-orders as a percentage of the required number
of units to make one batch.
Once the bar hits 100%, the item will be confirmed for production.
How do I know if the item will be manufactured?
Once the order status (progress bar) reaches 100%, the item will be confirmed for production.
Unfortunately, if the order status is under 100% by the time pre-orders close, we will not be manufacturing the item. If this is the case, we will send out notification emails to everyone who pre-ordered the item as well as give full refunds since the item(s) will not be manufactured.
Cutting down on waste
To cut down on overproduction and excess waste, as well as lower manufacturing costs, we’ll be trying out this all-or-nothing method of batch production pre-orders.
